Jera represents Borgo Paglianetto’s top-of-the-line product, as well as the true expression of Verdicchio di Matelica’s potential development: the etymology of its name come from runic alphabet, or in other words the alphabet used by ancient Germanic populations. Jera, the runic character that indicates the Latin letters “J” and “Y”, means “harvest”, “cyclical change”, “year”, and is therefore a favourable rune that foresees positive changes. It brings to the progress and confidence in being able to reap the benefits of the harvest that was sown throughout a year of strenuous effort and hard work. Jera is a wine that is inclined to ageing, supported by the typical acidity of its grape variety. Its colouring is an intense straw yellow with gold-like hues, with an intense and complex aroma. Its flavour is balanced, sapid and mineral. We suggest a pairing with dishes that present bold flavours, aged cheeses, truffle-based pasta dishes, fish and white meats. Elegance, charm rich in details, and longevity make this Verdicchio one of the standout expressions of Matelica. A wine both complex and with structure, articulated and agile, with a succulent sapidity that make it both deep and dynamic: it recalls anice, wild fennel and white fruit.
